Tina was raised in Ohio and moved to North Carolina when she was 18. She worked in banking here in Wilmington before twenty years of preschool teaching and raising her son, Tyler, in Greeensboro, NC. Tina, her husband David and black lab mix, Jet, retired in Carolina Beach in 2018. She loves reading, beach time, walks with Jet, college sports and cooking. The Bowers-Lee Family
George Jeffrey Lee & Dr. Cindy Bowers-Lee bought the property in 2004 and had the dream of turning it into a natural setting for their horses. Jeff was a great horsemanship teacher and steward of the land. Jeff & Cindy raised their son here and are true animal lovers. Their home is a hidden gem in South Wilmington. We ask anyone visiting to please honor the wildlife and nature. Egret Paradise visits are by private appointment only. We are grateful to have the support of the Bowers-Lee family in allowing Seabreeze Horse Connection to be housed here.

Colonel Mac
Mac is a 20 yo Quarter Horse. He is a grounding presence with the herd. Lauren and Mac crossed paths in 2013; he has been her greatest teacher and companion. They had a tough first year, but liberty training and a positive relationship-first approach changed everything. Mac is a wise soul and is a steadfast lead horse. He helps many people increase confidence, strength and awareness.

Annie
Annie is an 19 yo Paint Pony who was given to us from Lalla Reid, who took incredible care of Annie for the ten years prior to her arriving at SHC in July 2020. She loves to be groomed and is a wonderful equine to practice hand-walking and liberty play exercises. She has a big heart, and helps people work on kindness, sensitivity, and partnership.

Spirit
Spirit came here as a request from Penderosa Rescue & Sanctuary. He was adopted from a kill pen at 3 yo and had been inhumanely treated for his first years at life. He is an 8 yo Kentucky Mountain Horse cross and has a wild, magnetic personality. Spirit helps teach people to shift their energy to a safe place and symbolizes rehabilitation & second chances. We are grateful to Lauren Reece for being a sponsor.

Jack
Jack is a 22 yo Quarter Horse owned by Tina. He is a integral member of the SbHC herd. Students are drawn to his shy, honest, and animated personality. It is fitting that he was born on April Fool’s Day. Jack especially has a soft spot for senior horses and young children. He is great to hand-walk, greet, and give treats to.

Rest in Peace ~ Destiny
Destiny was Cindy’s horse and lived his last 15 years at the farm. Lauren and Tina were his caretakers the last couple years of his life and he made a forever impression. He lived to be an astounding 40 years-old and passed away naturally on Thanksgiving Day 2019. His heart energy was powerful. He is one of the main inspirations of the program. and we call one of his favorite live oak trees to nap under, “Destiny’s Tree”.

Rest in Peace ~ LB
LB was a beautiful Quarter Horse, black with a red-tinted mane. He was a former Barrel Racer and a fighter. LB lived at the farm for his last 3 years, passing away in December 2020. He had DSLD and fought hard until the end. We loved him very much and named his favorite stall after him.

Rest in Peace ~ Ginger
Ginger was Lauren’s beloved French Lop Rabbit who passed away in 2021 at 10 yo. She was a confident and loving rabbit and spent time with students at local schools and at the barn. She had a good relationship with Waylon & Ouelett. We all loved her and still feel a connection with her gentle spirit.
